Since its inception in 2017, the SMART Heroes program has expanded to two locations — Washington and Colorado — and has annual operating costs totaling hundreds of thousands of dollars. We take pride in helping active-duty and recently discharged veterans of the U.S. military make a smooth transition to civilian life.

These heroes can use your help, too.

Sponsorship and donations are a vital part of the SMART Heroes program. Both corporate donations and individual gifts are put to good use and help to defray the cost of tools and other necessities for sheet metal apprenticeship. Corporate sponsorship and individual sponsorship programs are available at every level.

By partnering with SMART Heroes, you join us in providing these men and women a head start that helps ease the uncertainties that come with transitioning from military to civilian life. This can be a daunting time that poses challenges for many.

Program graduates have overwhelmingly reported SMART Heroes was the right move for them. The structure and camaraderie of trade apprenticeship is a comfortable fit after military life, and the ability to work with one’s hands is another satisfying aspect of the trade. The concentrated seven-week program is equivalent to the first year of apprenticeship, allowing participants to continue their training as a second-year apprentice immediately upon discharge at one of 148 training centers across the United States.

With help from our sponsor companies and those at all sponsorship levels, we hope to reach as many veterans as possible and, someday, offer the SMART Heroes program nationwide.
